First EWRF Satellite Centre Launched-Syabas! Muar Branch

The Centre for Career Guidance and Counseling (Project C3G) is currently the flagship project of EWRF. The project aims at turning around the conventional mindset of students. The students are given opportunities to identify their personalities and career paths before they set foot into higher learning institutions to pursue their tertiary education in the fields of their choice.

We are proud that EWRF Muar Branch has taken a bold step to set up a Career Guidance and Counseling Satellite Centre at its well equipped hostel in Muar. Prior to the setting up of the centre, Mr Devadasan, Deputy President of EWRF and Ms Subita Nair, the Executive Director of EWRF together with Mr Manikam Krishnan, Mr Daniel Gnanamani and Mr Kalaiyarasan had a fruitful discussion with the EWRF Muar Branch committee members on 23rd August 2007.

Puan Sri Sarasa Pasamanickam, the Vice Chairman of the EWRF Muar Branch who chaired the discussion said that there were lots of facilities available in the hostel but said that the utilizing of the premises could be further maximized despite the many programs that are already being carried out for the betterment of the students. She said, “I strongly believe that the Satellite Centre would serve as a one stop guidance centre for the students to broaden their minds with the precious information on career paths. Through this centre we would also be able to conduct the Career Guidance and Counseling workshops”, said Puan Sri Sarasa confidently.

Mr Devadasan said that the Career Guidance and Counseling workshops which are being conducted have received positive responses from students and teachers. Through these workshops, EWRF has been able to change the traditional mindset of students, who often aspire to become doctors, lawyers or engineers, to allow them to have a wider perspective of career fields which may promise them equivalent or even better prospects than the mentioned careers.

“Syabas to EWRF Muar Branch for coming forward to take this step and keep that momentum going alongside EWRF’s Head office”, said Devadasan before handing out the materials needed to set up the satellite centre in Muar. He also urged other branches to follow suit and assured that the EWRF Head Office would provide all required assistance for the setting up of the centre.

In another development, Ms Subita Nair proposed that the EWRF Muar Branch to recruit a full time staff in order to systematically and effectively conduct the workshops on a regular basis and also to strengthen the services provided by the branch for the well being of the Indians in Muar. She said that by having a full-time staff, the branch would be able to carry out more activities and also enhance the flow of communication.

According to the Muar Branch, the Satellite centre would fully be operational within two month. For further enquiries, kindly contact Puan Sri Sarasa at 019-7724717.
