Donations to School Library

Several Tamil schools in Muar were badly damaged by the floods which hit Johor early this year. Most of the learning materials including books were wiped out in the heavy floods. The floods also badly affected several portions of the school buildings especially the school libraries. Since then the affected schools have been putting their feet forward to get funds from the Education department and well wishers to renovate and re-equip the libraries with learning materials.

The kind and noble, Mr M. Jayasingam, who is running a legal firm and also a committee member of the Muar EWRF Branch, came forward to assist some of the affected schools. He adopted three schools in Muar and donated a sum of RM5,000 to SJK(T) Jalan Khalidi for the setting up of a library.

At the same time he also fervently approached some well wishers for financial aid to assist SJK (T) Nordanal and SJK (T) Lanadron for the upgrading of their libraries. His tireless efforts were paid off when the Muar Rotary Club and EWRF Head Office came forward to support the schools financially. Both the organizations donated a sum of RM3, 000 each for the upgrading of the libraries.

Mr Devadasan, EWRF Deputy President handed out a cheque amounting to RM 1,000 each to the respective school officials during a visit to the EWRF Muar Branch on 23rd August 2007.
