Budding Future

Kaniswari Munusamy is no stranger to EWRF. She was part of the pioneer group of students shortlisted as recipients of the ABC Scholarhip. Now, she’s a fourth year medical student at Crimea State Medical University (CSMU), Ukraine. In 1995, she scored 6 A’s in the UPSR examination. It was then that this tamil school girl and four other 6 A scorers from Johor were identified by EWRF for the ABC Project.

She received the scholarship from 1996 – 2000. Kaniswari scored 8 A’s in both the PMR and SPM examinations, scoring 2 B’s as well for the later. This EWRF prodigy went on to complete STPM in a satisfying manner and claimed her medical seat in Ukraine.

She has never lost her sense of gratitude towards EWRF for its generous support in seeing her through schooling life. Her bond with EWRF started out when she was only a child at the tender age of five as she attended the EWRF Kindergarten of Kg MIC Kluang, Johor. Even after starting her medical programme in CSMU, she constantly keeps in touch with the Mr SP Pathi, EWRF President, to be updated with the happenings surrounding EWRF.

Her loyalty to EWRF was proven when she attended the 24th Annual Delegates Conference on 7th July 2007 and this loyalty of hers was well rewarded as she was overwhelmed with surprise when she received a cheque amounting RM 10 000 for her educational expenses and as a sign of appreciation from EWRF. The cheque was presented by Past President, Mr S.K Samy.

“No other Indian NGO that I know of is capable of being on par with the government when it comes to carrying out beneficial programmes which help empower the community effectively”, said a confident Kaniswari when contacted by the EWRF editorial. She hopes that more members of the community will come forward to join EWRF in its pursuit to give the Indians the needed boost to become a revered society. She also added that she could definitely see herself forging a great relationship with EWRF in times to come. May her aspirations come true.
