EWRF February 2007 Update

PROJECT C3G (CENTRE FOR CAREER, GUIDANCE & COUNSELLING)

• Seven workshops conducted in 2006.
• 30 workshops will be held in 2007. Awaiting funding from CCI.
• In March three workshops will be conducted. SMK Raja Mahadi,Klang (2 March), SMK La Salle, PJ (3 March) and SMK Bukit Bandaraya (8 March)
• Facilitators Training session was 27 Jan 2007 at 5th Residential College, University Malaya from 9am-1pm. 35 facilitators took part in this session.
• A handbook for students and facilitators has been drafted. It will be printed if funding is approved by CCI.
  

PROJECT EEP (ENGLISH ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME)

• This programme is to totally immerse Tamil school students in English.
• Funded by Calrsberg
• It will be run in 5 Tamil schools for 30 students (Std 1 & 2) on a weekly basis from 24 March till September 2007.
• A training session for facilitators will be held on 11 March 2007 from 9am to 1pm at Second Residential College, University Malaysia.
  

PROJECT READ

• This programme is to cultivate reading and library habit among Tamil school students
• Funded by Calrsberg
• It will be run in 5 Tamil schools for 30 students (Std 4 & 5) on a weekly basis from March till September.
• Reading materials have been bought from Grolier Malaysia

EWRF JUNIOR CLUB LAUNCHING CEREMONY

• EWRF Junior Club is mooted for Tamil school students who participate in any activity conducted by EWRF
• The club initially will be formed at for places namely Klang, Kuala Lumpur, Mentakab and Port Dickson
• The launch of the first EWRF Junior Club will be held on 11 March at 3.30pm at SJK(T) Simpang Lima, Klang.

BRANCH UPDATES

• Muar Branch held its 8th Community meeting on 7 Feb 2007
• Johor Bahru Branch organized Tamil School Teachers’ Appreciation Day on 20 Jan 2007 to honor them for their contributions in the UPSR examination

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

• EWRF provided RM 361 for S. Sathiswary (Form 4) and S. Thiruchelvan (Form 2) from Klang to pay for their school fees, work books and bus charge.
