A Golden Year for School Students
"30 years ago, during my school days we had no tuition classes or career guidance workshops as compared to now.Therefore, with determination and perseverance we could study well and rise up to a higher level in our life,” said Haji Abu Bakar, Manjung District Officer during the opening ceremony of the Career Guidance and Counselling workshop organized by EWRF in collaboration with Pantai Remis Tamil Youth Bell Club.
“Those days we struggled through all the challenges and hurdles in life in order to be successful in our studies. It gives me great pleasure to share my experiences with you”, elaborated Abu Bakar.
The Career Guidance and Counselling Workshop was conducted once again by EWRF for students from Form 4-6 in order to assist them identify their characters and careers.Approximately 80 Indian students participated in the workshop.Mr G Daniel, EWRF’s Project Executive headed a team to conduct the workshop.
Mr S. Vadivelu, Secretary of Pantai Remis Tamil Youth Bell Club said that by conducting such workshops in the rural areas it would certainly create a brighter yet greater future for the Indian students. Mr Rajeskumar, from Malaysia Nanban Daily was impressed with the workshop and he congratulated EWRF officials for having conducted the workshop in a systematic and effective way.
EWRF with the funding from Community Centre for Initiative (CCI) has been conducting the Career Guidance and Counselling workshop for Indian students in secondary schools all over the country since mid of 2006. To-date, 25 workshops have been conducted in which more than 2500 students have participated. A few more workshops will be conducted in August before plans for workshops in 2008 are drawn up.
