Project EEP - English Enrichment Program Kicks Off
It was a certainly a hectic week for EWRF as we kicked-off the long awaited Project EEP- English Enrichment Program for Tamil school students at SJK(T) Kinrara, SJK(T) Puchong and SJK(T) Effingham, Damansara on 22 March 2007 which is fully sponsored by Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Berhad. This program is designed for Standard One students to assist them improve their level of proficiency in English.
Tamil school students are taught English through fun activities. They come to this program every Saturday for three hours to participate in many activities and games which instill interest and love in them in learning English. A special module has been designed for this program which has been a guide for EWRF Facilitators in running this program.
Ms Subita Nair, Executive Director of EWRF during the first day of the program at SJK(T) Kinrara interacted with the lovely students. She asked the students to introduce themselves and their ambitions. All the students participated in this session joyfully. She urged the teachers to go down to the students level as they are only 7 years old. The objective of this programme is not for us to frighten them but instead instill a love for learning in a fun and cheerful way, she said. She was very happy that the students can understand English and they are very positive towards the learning the English language. “It is our duty to ensure the success of this programme and also to make the students enjoy themselves. They must, on their own want to come back every Saturdays for this project.”
Similar sessions were also held at SJK(T) Puchong which was attended by Mr Manikam Krishnan, EWRF Manager and SJK(T) Effingham, Damansara was attended by Mr Ron Selvan, TTDI Branch Chairman and EWRF Committee Member.
