Second Junior Club is launched

The younger generation is the hope of the community in the future. Their inner potentials and talents need to be wormed out for the steadfast progress of the community and the country. In order to realize this, EWRF has paved a way for the young ones by forming the Junior Club in which young minds are pulled together, moulded and guided consistently till they attain sound progress in their studies and lives.

EWRF formed its first Junior Club in Klang on 11th March 2007 for 50 form one students who received their primary education at Tamil schools. Since then a variety of programs have been carried out for them and the students have actively participated.

As a step to further widen the opportunities and benefits of the younger generation in other areas, EWRF formed its second Junior Club in Mentakab. EWRF officials had a dialog session with the students during its formation on 22nd August 2007. During the session Mr S.P Pathi, the president of EWRF applauded the initiatives taken by three foresighted Form Six students to set up the club in Mentakab. He said that studying well and achieving excellent results in examinations should be the primary goal for the students. “The students need to undergo a lot of struggle and challenges in order to achieve their goals. They are capable of bringing a lot of changes to the Indian community by being highly educated and committed”, cited Mr Pathi.

Mr Pathi also urged the students to constantly improve themselves by participating in programs organized by EWRF Junior Club and also beneficial programmes held by other organisations. In this regard, EWRF is ever ready to forward financial assistance to beneficial programs organized by the Mentakab Junior Club, assured Mr Pathi.

During the dialog session, Mr Devadasan, Deputy President of EWRF explained to the students the importance of understanding their career paths since many of them are now in Form Five and Form Six. He said that EWRF has been conducting Career Guidance and Counselling Workshops for Upper Secondary students from across the country since mid of 2006. Hence, he requested the club to organize the workshop for its members which will be facilitated by EWRF officials.

Ms Subita Nair, the Executive Director of EWRF who was also present during the session, encouraged the club members to write creative articles on any topic which may be of interest to the students, be it in the form of essays or poems so that EWRF could publish them in its quarterly newsletter. This is one of the ways to improve their writing skills and proficiency in English, she said.

The scrupulous act of EWRF towards the young generation in creating awe-inspiring future leaders without doubt will further assist a cross section of the Indian community in becoming a reputable in this country. The community is certainly counting on the younger generation too. Let us reach out to them whenever needed.
